WHY THE NAME PLANT KANDY?
So glad you asked! :) - Candy whether plant-based or not has sugar as a key ingredient. Sugar is made in the leaves of the sugarcane plant and stored as juice in sugarcane stalks. So, plant based or not, we offer something at our store for everyone. Fruit is another item we offer other than candy and to Ivan, one of the owners of plant Kandy, fruit is what he calls his "candy". Wacey, the other owner is a type 1 Diabetic (not to be confused with type 2! type 1 is an autoimmune disease!). For him and many type 1 Diabetics, candy is a super helpful food to take if their blood sugar was to drop at dangerous levels! Fruit and other drinks can help bring low blood sugar levels back up but nothing can bring low blood sugar levels up faster than sugary drinks and or candy. That being said, The word plant pays homage to Ivan's Veganism and the word Kandy pays homage to Wacey's type 1 diabetes. The letter c in candy was replaced with a letter K because you know, its just that much more witty and fun! :) If you have any questions regarding type 1 diabetes or the vegan lifestyle, feel free to message us! WHAT IS A FREEZE DRYER/FREEZE DRIED ITEM?
A Freeze Dryer is a machine that Freeze Dries an array of food items. Freeze Drying is a method that dehydrates an item at a low temperature and also involves freezing an item, lowering pressure, and removing the ice created by the added low temperatures through a process called sublimation. So essentially the Freeze Dryer freezes items to a -40 degrees Fahrenheit, applies heat baking items to temperatures above 140 degrees Fahrenheit creating a vacuum chamber that extracts all of the moisture out of the food items. All this is what changes the items texture! why Jolly Ranchers are puffy like a Cheeto, Why Salt Water Taffy explodes into a a crunchy, light and airy sphere, why fruit is super healthy! (retains about 97% of its nutrient value! as opposed to dehydrating it!) and why all of our products are perfect for backpackers, hunters, skiers, runners, camping, and everything else you can think of! Fruit especially is SUPER LIGHT in weight!

When we sell out of a handful of items, it usually takes us no more than a week or week and a half to have enough inventory to re-launch items for our online customers. Feel free to message us regarding restocking updates!

Unfortunately since we sell food items we are not able to offer returns. If we did mess up on your order please contact us ASAP so we can correct the issue for you!
